Such airborne impurities are carried into the cooling tower and absorbed by the recirculating water to form a corrosive solution； (2)、All evaporative cooling equipment must be located to ensure an adequate supply of fresh air to the fans. When units are located adjacent to walls or in enclosures, care must be taken to ensure the warm, saturated, discharge air is not deflected and short-circuited back to the air intakes. Each unit should be located and positioned to prevent the introduction of discharge air into the ventilation system of any building. For detailed recommendations on FBN layout, please consult your WELL Representative； 2、Piping Issue (1)、The piping and pump valves should be positioned below the water level to stop overflow and air intake； (2)、Proper pumps should be selected with in view the fluid running distance and the pressure loss all along； 3、Work Fluids (gas) Compatibility Closed circuit cooling tower (evaporative condenser) cooled mediums must be compatible with the cooling tubes to prevent potential threat of tube corrosion or even explosion! 4、Capacity Control (1)、For multiple parallel cooling towers (evaporative condensers), the number of units in operation can be adjusted according to auto or manual setup； (2)、For cooling towers with multiple fans, the number of fans in operation can be adjusted according to auto or manual setup； (3)、The fan speed can be controlled with frequency-shift control； (4)、The amount of spray water can be adjusted following variation of ambient temperatures。 5、Requirements for spray systems (1)、The most harmful conditions develop as water evaporates from the unit, leaving behind the dissolved solids originally contained in the make-up water. These dissolved solids may be either alkaline or acidic and, as they are concentrated in the circulating water, can produce scaling or accelerated corrosion. The extent of impurities in the air and water determines the frequency of most maintenance services and also governs the extent of water treatment which can vary from simple continuous bleed and biological control to a sophisticated treatment system. (2)、Requirements for the spray water: According to GB50050-95 , where the water quality is not in good condition, certain water cleaning & softening work should be done (including chemical treatment), for which WELL engineers are available for relevant advice. Stainless steel water basin is suggested for use. (3)、Spray water compensation ： Evaporation loss≤0.8% of total flow rate + water drift≤0.1%+ drain ≤0.3% = total water loss≤1.2% of total flow rate (4)、Anti-freeze for spray water： ① Prepare a thermal tank with enough capacity indoors for containing of spray water after the cease-operation of cooling towers。 ② Place heater into the spray water basin, and normally immersion electrical heater or vapor coils are adopted； ③ Drain the water basin when the system ceases operation。 6、Air discharge (1)、When the fluids are running inside closed tubes with fluids supplied from a enlargement tank, a air discharge valve shall be installed at the highest point of tubes, so that when the air pressure reaches certain value, the discharge of excessive air shall be automatic or manually controlled.。 (2)、For evaporative condensers, it shall be noticed that the air unable to be condensed shall prominently reduce the heat exchange effect of the unit, leading to high condensing pressure. Therefore, air discharge operation shall be frequently done , especially for the system where the refrigerator suck pressure is of minus level. When the condensing pressure is excessively high, the fast direct air discharge measure shall be taken by closing all piping valves and opening discharge valve. The mix of refrigerant and air will be discharged until the pressure reaches normal level。 7、Compensation Water The circulation water of closed circuit circulation system shall be in compliance with the conditions required by production process, for example, soft water, desalinized water or condensed water can be adopted。 8、Antifreeze of Cooling Coils (very important!) In the high-altitude area where temperature drops sharply during the winter season, the circulation water of closed circuit cooling tower shall freeze without heat load even sometimes when the circulation water keeps running. Therefore, enough care shall be given to the anti-freeze measures for this concern. Normally two anti-freeze solutions are considered: (1)、Put the circulation water under certain heat load, maintaining the water temperature higher than 7℃(for lower altitude area not higher than 3℃). To keep this heat load, normally the use of immersed electric heater is applicable, meanwhile a minimum flow rate of the circulation water shall be maintained. (2)、The best solution is suggested the use of antifreeze liquid, like glycol. For detailed mixture proportions, please consult your WELL representative.
